adults only campsite on the edge of the beautiful Cotswold Hills

“This CS is among the best we've ever visited (we've been caravanning for over 30 years). It is very well organised and beautifully maintained by welcoming and friendly owners. The caravan field looks over lovely views. It is very peaceful - no road noise. Great for easy walking and cycling over commons and through picturesque villages. We will definitely be returning”

“We stayed for the badminton horse trials and this campsite was a real find. We arrived early and this proved useful as we beat the traffic, which then meant after putting up the tent we could go 'over the top' and avoid traffic jams for entry to the show ground. The campsite is basic (as they clearly outline) but is flat, well kept and peaceful with good views of the surrounding ridge. We had a warm welcome and great directions from the owners who were very helpful with advice and when booking. A perfect, peaceful location, especially when going to the Badminton horse trials”

“We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend and enjoyed the best weather in an immaculate setting. Steve (the owner) and his wife, Caron, were welcoming and friendly without intruding in any way. When our pump wouldn't work he went 'beyond the call of duty' and got it going again! The site is delightful and the loo even had cyclamen in it! There are pots of geraniums around the farm and herbs in pots to help yourself to. Plenty of walking without using the car and easy access (by car) to Chipping Sodbury for any shopping etc. Easy access to water and chemical disposal point. We will definitely go back for more peace and quiet!

“We only stopped overnight by chance to be at a family birthday party but there was so much more to do so we will be back with walking boots and maps....a genuinely warm welcome and beautiful setting”

“Overnight stay on route to home in st.albans we were more than impressed with the friendliness of the owners the rally field is lovely and flat with a slight slope and considering the rain we had the night before was really dry the site is well away from the roads and is realy peaceful we will certainly be returning next year for a holiday”

“Used this site as a stop off returning from Wales. Lovely and peaceful and picturesque views. When into Bath which is relatively nearby. Welcome was very friendly and nice touches of seats and flowers around the toilet and wash facilities. Would recommend”

A very peaceful site with great views. Everything just seems so right, run by a very welcoming host. We went on board SS Great Britain docked at Bristol - well worth a visit. A weekend was not enough time to fully explore this wonderful area.

We stayed here on two separate nights on our outward and homeward journeys. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Between visits they had had rain so found us hardstanding, and lent us an extension lead so we could still reach to hookup.

It is very quiet, with a few other quiet units on each occasion.

Facilities basic, but adequate and the 'office' with honesty shop and seating was open and lit at all times. Solar lighting around the site adds a special touch and helps night time navigation around the site!

Lovely peaceful site. Beautifully kept camping fields. Great views, Nice dog walks. Event type WC immaculately kept, lovely gladiolas within (Dame Edna would love them)Event type washroom, great re-cycling, really friendly owners. Would love there to be a shower on site so we could stay for longer. We will return.

Not many campsites greet you with an offer of a cup of tea!

Fantastic site!

Adults only so perfect peace and quiet and miles away from any main road with a healthy walk in the lovely countryside to a brilliant pub called The Beaufort Arms with a welcoming host and ever so friendly locals.

Don't be put off with no showers and only a washroom so perfect for a couple of days. We loved the honesty shop after we started running dry on cider!

Tips. Ask to stay on Daisy's patch and ask to see Steve's truck! all will be revealed

We stayed here for Badminton Horse Trials and the owners were very helpful communicating prior to our stay and during. The site is quiet and the countryside is beautiful. We cycled to Badminton each day (quite hilly!approx 7km) but we didn't have to as the site owners were happy to take us near to the event where we could then walk or cycle the rest of the way.

We were self sufficient in the motorhome, however the site provided toilets and a washroom too.

Blessed with lovely weather (always helps) we had a fabulous time and will most certainly be returning

We stayed in this excellent campsite recently and it was perfect for us: very simple, but well-maintained toilet facilities, a really friendly and helpful welcome and a beautiful view of the rolling Cotswold hills out of our campervan window.

The site was peaceful, but the other campers were very friendly when they did pass by. We always look for a pretty but very basic campsite when we stay and this fitted the bill really well. I believe it’s only a short walk to the nearest pub, although we didn’t try this, instead choosing to barbecue as the weather had luckily cleared up by the time we arrived. There are good supermarket and shop facilities within a 10 minute drive, but the site itself is lovely and countryfied -- just outside a very small and pretty village.

I would definitely recommend this site to anybody looking for a straightforward campsite without any unnecessary frills.

Absolutely Fantastic site - can't wait to go back in a few weeks time. No noise pollution; no light pollution. Just fresh air; great views and fabulous hosts. ( and some wine) Beautiful clean site. We only live 11 miles from the site, this is going to be our regular weekend retreat. Facilities are adequate but we never used them anyway.

We stayed for two days with our dog for a walking weekend. The camp site is superbly located in a beautiful part of the country with beautiful views.

I was in contact with the owner prior to our stay and they were amazing. They were able to accommodate everything we asked for especially concerning my dog who had never spent a night in the tent.

The facilities are exactly as they are described in the website so everything was great. If I'm going to be ultra critical it would be not enough toilet facilities. I fully understand their problems with drainage etc, as I said, it's me being hyper critical as I have nothing else to be critical about!

Of all the camp sites we visit around the country I would definitely put Oakfield right at the top. Excellent spot, Excellent surroundings and fantastic hosts.

We stopped on this adult only site for a weekend, it was a nice site, very quiet and tidy, owner very friendly as well.

Good points

Pitches are spacious, There is hard standing, 1 toilet 1 washroom, Nice and quiet, Adult only, There is a chemical disposal point in bottom field,

There is no were to empty the waste water the owner told us to empty it in the hedge row.

Bad points

There is only 2 hard standing pitches, There is no electric on the hard standing pitches you have to use 2 extensions and feed your cable through the hedge to connect to the electric box in the next field. In total there is only 5 hook-ups. 4 points on one pole on a grass area, the other hook up is under a bucket in the ground towards the bottom of the site

All in all a very nice site will visit again

Management response 2014: We offer 4 hook-ups on grass pitches and have 2 areas of hardstanding which have no electricity but can be connected from the grass pitches. This enables visitors to stay, when in poor weather we would otherwise have to turn customers away. We encourage our visitors to recycle as much as possible including using grey water to sustain the many hedgerows, there is however a grey water disposal facility in addition

As mentioned in other reports this is a great little site.

The owner was very helpful and friendly.

The camping field we were in had really short grass which was great in the wet, as we did have quite a bit of rain over the weekend. There was loads of room in the gently sloping field.

Yes, the facilities are not numerous but clean and tidy. Whilst there was only one Festival toilet, we didn’t have to queue. There were about 5 caravans and a couple of tents there during our visit.

The area is really attractive with lanes not dissimilar to those found in Devon with some really attractive villages. We tried the beer in both pubs in Hawkesbury Upton, The Beaufort Arms and the Fox. Both are very different.

Yate & Chipping Sodbury are a few minutes drive away.

This site is definitely on the “will return list. ”

This CL was the best we have come across. The owners are really friendly and helpful. We had the site to ourselves for much of our stay and the weather was glorious. The site is peaceful and relaxing and the surrounding countryside with its hundreds of footpaths to explore is wonderful and we walked for many miles with our 4 dogs who were also made welcome. The site is clean and tidy and very attractive. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

Gorgeous little hideaway site with perfect views of the surrounding countryside. Was greeted by the lady owner who was very friendly and thorough explained about site and surrounding areas. There are no showers on site and it states this clearly on the website but there is however a small porta cabin type thing with a wash hand basin in also an events toilet which was always very clean and tidy and even had small plants to make it homely :).

There is plenty of field for dog walking and believe me our little jack Russell loved every minute of it. Site is very clean and tidy and completely peaceful. Local town was about 3 mins away in car but you would never guess that as the site was just so tranquil. Owners sell honey on site which they make themselves and there were a few herbs to help ourselves to. Fantastic location and very nice friendly owners was a pleasure to stay here and will definitely visit again.

Such a lovely site. The views are simply stunning and it's so peaceful. This is the second time we've stayed here.

The facilities are basic but spotlessly clean. The site owners are lovely and genuinely concerned to ensure you enjoy your stay, without being in any way intrusive.

The pitches are separated by newly planted dividing hedges which is nice.

If you're looking for tranquillity and not bothered about having basic facilities then this site is just perfect.

Lovely, quiet, peaceful site! Owner was friendly and showed us the facilities and where to set up. The shower facility wasn't completed yet, but will be a great benefit to the site! Also received a welcome letter explaining where the local pub and other facilities around the area, about the code on the gate, and times they close/open the gate, which was extremely helpful! Allows bbq 's there which was perfect. Great camp site! Would definitely use again! THANK YOU! X

A lovely peaceful farm camp just six miles off the M4. Perfect place to unwind and just breath fresh air. Basic facilities in terms of a washroom and a porta loo but all very clean. There was a shelter shed with bricks and wood available for levelling and barbeques and information was also provided there about the local area. There is a footpath leading to a walk in the country. Family were helpful at every turn without being intrusive.

We spent a couple of nights on this tranquil site. Basic certificated Caravan & Camping club site. Facilities included a very clean portaloo and a 'porta' washcabin with hot water. There are a few electric hook ups available if required. Beautiful views from the larger main camping field. The grass is regularly cut which is a plus. The downside for us was the poor drainage on the field in the inclement weather. A feature of the soil. Owners very friendly and helpful. A great quiet adult only site for those wanting a peaceful location, best in the dry weather.

Many thanks to them for helping us to use this site during a very cool and wet spring. We were travelling by bicycle, so the distance to and from sites and communication about them often presented a challenge in our travels.

This is a basic campsite, but very clean and quiet. It is some distance from the availability of food, so we were glad to arrive prepared.

Beautiful views over the countryside.

A lovely little site in a beautiful location with stunning views of the countryside. Very quiet too. The owners are very helpful but not obtrusive in any way.

The facilities are basic, just a portable loo and a portable washroom but they were clean.

If you are looking for peace and quiet and a country location, and don't mind basic facilities, then I recommend this site without hesitation. I can't wait to go back again.

If you are of the Keith and Candice -Marie school of camping this site is for you! Facilities are basic but adequate. There are a variety of different camping spaces on level, well mown grass.

The owners are helpful and friendly. Views from the camping field are sublime and the only night time sounds are the hooting of owls and the barking of foxes.

Nevertheless the site is easy to access off the A46 and though it is a couple of miles to the local pub The Beaufort Arms it is well worth the journey. It is a real locals' pub, full of story book characters, fun and lively, serving great food and real ales.

The area is peppered with footpaths and local lanes are almost traffic free .A real taste of Olde England.

A tranquil, picturesque corner of South Gloucestershire. The owners welcomed us warmly, and were happily available to help us navigate the local area.

A true rural retreat. Perfect location to explore the unspoilt countryside surrounding the Badminton Estate and neighbouring villages / hamlets, yet a stones throw from larger towns such as Chipping Sodbury, and within easy reach of Bristol & Bath.

Easy to access when towing, only a short journey along country lanes from the M4.

Our dog was made very welcome. Perfect for dog walking as the camping field is right next to a public footpath following the river.

Tucked away, private corner of the family farm. Very accessible & clean service area for your chemical toilet, fresh water & recycling. No electric hook-ups but we love this as it retains it's charm as a true camping holiday.

They have thoughtfully planned where to suggest pitches were made to ensure everyones privacy & enjoyment.

We highly recommend this most special hideaway.
